randomly did a search for Asia Conference 2010 because i wanted to block out the dates for it in my calendar first (super kiasu right? LOL, i'm not singaporean for nothing!).. and found quite a few blogs posting about it already!!
haha basically i took 3 days leave last week to go for this super amazing Asia Conference! it was really a super mind-blowing event, and i felt that learnt so much, grown so much!
1st day: i signed up to serve on usher for the first three days, so on the first day i reported at expo at around 9 plus.. it was quite cool, since i've never tried serving as an usher in my own church before, and here i am serving in Asia Conference haha.. in the morning i was outside garden bliss restaurant, greeting the Pastors and leaders as they made their way to the welcome luncheon. it was quite fun being able just to be there to greet them haha.. =P
had a quick lunch before going to usher for the electives, specifically the art of worship leading! lol, annabel and alison were conducting the elective, and i sneaked in to listen for bits and pieces haha.. went to take a look at Pastor How conducting the effective evangelism elective, Pst Abraham from taiwan giving the same elective in chinese, and also the being a good PA to the Pastor elective. :P haha..
during the evening i was ushering at the foyer 2 area, where almost everyone will pass by on their way to hall 8 from the train or bus.. it was quite funny ushering there, cos of all the people who walk by, and making mistakes here and there which luckily was only known to some of the ushers haha..
oh forgot to mention one thing! as we were ushering with the CHC ushers, we struck up conversations la.. and when i asked how old do some of the ushers think i am, they said i was 16! (ok la, only 2 ushers said that, and i only asked 2 ushers LOL)
day 2: ushering again, so went to expo to meet up with the ushers at 0715!! was tasked to do internal traffic at the main entrance area, which meant that i would see everyone who walks into hall 8! it was quite confusing at first, because even though i knew what the ushers meant by "echo CTE 1" etc, i had to be able to flow the people quickly to the right area.. and i was the only hoGc usher around! lol.. but the CHC ushers really guided me and everything, and after that it was still ok la haha..
met my CG!! haha, shuyi, cavin, gerald, julius, henry, dengyao all came, and had a brief greeting with them before they moved on.. stayed in the hall during the two morning sessions, one with Pst Phil Pringle and the other with Pst Ulf Ekman. Both had different styles, but I really enjoyed both of them sermons!
ended up ushering for only half day before i left to meet my CG at the MRT station to go to Changi Airport for lunch! went to T3
for the first time, ate the western food in the food court there which was really nice, and gobbled up the chng teng also haha.. went back to expo for Pst Tan's elective, then went to eat dinner at hall 7.. then went back again for a last session that night, which was really mind-blowing!
3rd day: it was basically the same thing again, went early for the morning sessions, but hey! i wasn't ushering! and in the afternoon i went to tampines mall to watch madagascar 2 with shuyi, cavin, milton and wilson! went to din tai fung to eat xiao long bao after that.. we only ordered xiao long bao! lol.. after that shuyi, milton, wilson and us began to play magic the gathering LOL..
went back again to expo for the night session with Pst Kong.. he preached a really powerful sermon that night, and even though we were in the overflow, the presence of God was still so strong (:
4th day: didn't go for Asia Conference because we had combined service in our church.. met up with shuyi and gerald first, then after that we went down to meet wilson and daniel to... play magic again! lol, we're becoming a magic CG.. milton joined us after that, then we went up for service and sat at the back, which was arranged in quite a weird way, but was arranged that way so that we can have space to jump during praise and worship, yet will be able to see the stage and screens properly..
we had C3 band with us! it was so cool, listening to some of the songs that we do in our own services being performed live by the original band! Pastor How then preached a powerful sermon that no doubt left many impacted and motivated to do more for the next generation..
5th day: woke up early in the morning to go for the 0830 prayer meeting before the morning session of the last day of Asia Conference.. wanted to go and pray for the service, and also to book seats for the ordination ceremony later, because Pastor How was going to be ordained as a Reverend! haha, have to support my Pastor man! had a great session with Pst Phil Pringle after that, then went to the airport for lunch again haha.. went back in time for the very very last session, but couldn't make it into the hall 8, so we just got some of the best seats in hall 7.. the last session was with Dr A R Bernard, and i left the service feeling really changed, because i felt God really spoken to me in a miraculous way, and really, i know what i'm called to do, at least for this period of time!
it was really a great experience, going for Asia Conference, learning so much from the men of God.. can't wait for Asia Conference 2010 man! woo!~
